St. Peter’s participates in the outreach of the larger Church through synodical, national and ecumenical programs such as Canadian Lutheran World Relief and Citizens for Public Justice.  We are members of the Ottawa Lutheran Refugee Sponsorship Committee.

At a local level, we support programs such as Centre 507, Centretown Churches Social Action Committee, Centretown Emergency Food Bank, Community Laundry Cooperation, Daybreak Shelter, Ottawa Innercity Ministries, and Multifaith Housing Initiative.

St. Peter’s Mitten Tree is an annual congregational project.  During the season of Advent, members are encouraged to decorate the Mitten Tree with mittens, scarves, toques, sweaters and other warm clothing for children and adults.  Additional items are purchased from congregational funds.  The clothing is distributed locally to those in need through programs such as Centre 507 and the Day Care Centre at the Adult Education High School.
